Using Coloured Mulch on Your Garden

Using coloured is a magnificent way to develop good quality plants that adds value to your garden. It allows lawn owners to protect their plants against pests and other diseases. Mulch may be produced with the use of different sources such as compost, rubber and plastic.

However, once the mulch is laid on landscaping areas, it may appear as an eyesore particularly for those that are looking forward to have a visually appealing garden area. Therefore, coloured mulch is now used to easily blend the mulch with other plants in the yard.

In having coloured mulch, the lawn owner must determine the kind of aesthetics he wants to achieve. Is the colored mulch meant to complement the colour that surrounds it or is it meant to appear invisible and blend with the colour of plants? Generally, an unobtrusive or natural looking appearance will vary on the landscaper’s personal preference.

If you’re aiming for a mulch that blends with the colour of the soil or dirt, there are two types of bark mulches that you can use. The first option is mulch that is not dyed at all, and the other one is mulch that is dyed with brown. Some people prefer a natural aesthetic, which is brown at first look but will turn grey over time. This is more visually unobtrusive as coloured mulch stands out as artificial. Natural mulch can easily blend in with the rest of the landscape and will look less “fake looking.”

As an alternative, many lawn owners prefer using mulch that has been dyed brown to make it appear invincible. However, because soil is not always in one shade and the dyed mulch will have a single shade of brown, the mulched lawn area may appear synthetically coloured. But for most people this is an insignificant issue compared to the need of using brown cat blends with the colour of the soil for the most part.
